Full biography
Leah Justyce is an Australian contemporary fine artist with 26 years of independent professional practice. Based in Ballarat, Victoria, she works in contemporary impressionist and abstract styles, creating large-scale original paintings in acrylics and oils for residential interiors, collectors, interior designers, hotels, and commercial fitouts across Australia and internationally.
Her work has been exhibited at Art Basel and The Other Fair -- two of the most significant platforms in the international contemporary art market -- as well as a group exhibition in Madrid. Her paintings have been featured in British Vogue, World of Interiors, and House and Garden UK, and have entered private collections worldwide. Notable commissions include a work for US musician Blackbear and a series of commissions for property stylists across Melbourne and Geelong.
With a background in fine art, criminology, and psychological science, Justyce approaches painting as a practice of emotional intelligence applied to space. Her work is made to belong somewhere specific -- not to fill a wall, but to define the feeling of a room. She works directly to brief for interior designers and commercial clients, and maintains a production capacity of up to 30 original large-scale acrylic works in eight weeks for hotel fitouts and property developments.
She is also the founder of Solene Haus, an online gallery and artist ecosystem built to connect collectors and designers directly with artists without gallery markup, and operates a portfolio of digital platforms under the GitHub organisation ordinaustralia. She has been an independent artist for 26 years and has no intention of stopping.
